About QTimmer

QTimmer is more than just a countdown tool – it is a comprehensive timing platform built specifically for classrooms. The project began when a group of students noticed that their teachers struggled to find reliable, distraction‑free timers for exams and group activities. Many free timers were cluttered with advertisements or lacked features like custom durations, subtle alarms and themes suitable for different subjects. QTimmer was designed to fill that gap.

The core idea behind QTimmer is simplicity blended with flexibility. On the surface, it displays a large, easy‑to‑read countdown with quick preset buttons so teachers can start common activities with a single click. Beneath the surface, an advanced mode unlocks deeper configuration options such as custom titles, teacher codes, volume control, background audio tracks and a selection of alarm sounds. Teachers who run regular quizzes or exercises can create their own code that preloads all the necessary details and even displays a subject icon alongside the timer.

QTimmer is written in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, which means it runs entirely in your web browser without any server dependencies. Once loaded, it works offline so that schools with limited internet access can still rely on it. The code has been optimised to run smoothly on older smartboards and low‑powered devices – no fancy libraries or heavy frameworks. At the same time, modern devices benefit from responsive design and crisp animations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide educators with a high‑quality, free timer that makes classroom management easier. We understand that timing activities accurately can improve student focus and reduce stress during exams. By offering visual themes, calming sounds and a selection of alarms, QTimmer lets teachers create the right atmosphere for learning. We continually gather feedback from teachers and students to refine the experience and add meaningful features without unnecessary complexity.

Get Involved

QTimmer is an open project and we welcome contributions from the community. If you have ideas for new themes, would like to translate the interface into your language or have discovered a bug, please let us know. You can find contact details on our Contact page. Teachers who wish to add their own preset codes can modify the subjects.js file in the project and add any images to the images/ folder.

Thank you for using QTimmer and supporting our mission to make classroom tools better for everyone.
